The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, expressed her desire for the city to become a benchmark for women's participation on corporate boards and advocated for achieving gender parity. During the "Women of the Future" event, Brugada Molina detailed that starting in 2025, her administration will implement a program to promote women's economic autonomy by providing financial support, training, and education to foster the development of women-led businesses.
As part of these initiatives, the creation of 200 childcare and development centers within the Units of Transformation and Organization for Inclusion and Social Harmony (UTOPÍAS) is planned, which will also include services such as public laundries, cafeterias, and spas. This measure aims to balance working conditions between men and women, allowing mothers to dedicate time to personal activities while their children are cared for.
Brugada announced that women-led companies or those with gender-parity boards will have priority in public contracts starting next year. The leader emphasized the importance of supporting the growth of women in the economic sector and promoting the formation of more women-led businesses.
In this regard, Brugada aims to establish an alliance between business leaders and the capital government to promote women's financial inclusion and achieve gender parity in executive positions within companies. These actions seek to break the glass ceilings that limit women's advancement in the business realm, similarly to how gender parity has been guaranteed in the political arena.
